Yeah, I never knew what Thom -or his bosses-were hoping to achieve. Plus the ending was a little too neat-the Ke-Han mages are poisoning the magicians and dragons, so just kill the mages. End of. I thought that the whole reason the dragon riders hadn't burned the shit out of the mages before was because they couldn't get there and return, but then four of them managed to anyway. I'll probably pick up the next book, but I'll get the kindle edition rather than buying new. It'll be interesting to see how the 'alternate china' setting is used, as I thought the authors could have done more with 'Vostock=Russia'. But then non-western fantasy settings is apparently my big thing at the moment, anyway. All in all, if that was my first novel I'd b pretty damn pleased with myself but DEAR GOD SOME WOMEN PLEASE.
