You know, I wish they took all the gameplay that actually WORKED in AC4, and had it in AC3. ALSO, someone should beat Ratonhnhaké:ton's actor over the head and tell him not to base his performance off Dances with Wolves. Ratonhnhaké:ton's story is this perfect storm of angst, and the shitty gameplay and dropped story lines (and the THREE HOURS before you meet him) just took away so much from the narrative.
*sigh*
At least Aveline got a good game, so they can't say people weren't connecting with a minority main chara.
RE: Motivations, Ratonhnhaké:ton and Kenway started out with positive goal in mind (do the thing) while Altair and Ezio had negative goals (un-do or make up for a thing.) I think you can tell how in the second two games just sort of wandered all over that the writers had a harder time figuring out the end point of the positive goals. And neither Ratonhnhaké:ton nor Kenway ended up with what they said they wanted at the beginning of the game!
